After 3 years in the planning, the new Worship Centre for Christian Outreach Church in Nowra is finally going up. The new facility includes a 700 seat Auditorium, Prayer Room, Green Rooms, Counselling Rooms and a Resource Bookshop. A 4 metre wide foyer separates the new building from the existing structures. The current Auditorium will be converted into a Mini Auditorium and an enlarged Café and the current Café will be fitted out to be office space.
Ps Peter Pilt said that the building is being constructed in response to a serious need for space in the Auditorium, overcrowding in the offices and the café and a general need for more facilities for youth and children’s church.

The construction is tilt up concrete walls and once the slab and walls were poured, it only took two and one half days to stand the walls and put the roof trusses on. One key component of keeping the cost of construction down is volunteer labour. Prior to the commencement of the building nearly 40 volunteers were trained and issued their green cards by Work Cover. This allowed them to be on the building site and be a part of the workforce.
In conjunction with the building construction, two 140,000 litre rain water harvest tanks have also been installed. The Federal Government funded these and the project was launched on site, by the then Federal Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Malcolm Turnbull.
With the completion date for the Worship Centre set at around June 08, this year is shaping up to be an exciting year of expansion for the church. Funding for the Nowra worship centre was provided by COC Investment Services.
